2-year-old found unconscious in car, dies at local hospital

Authorities in Washington Parish were investigating the death of a 2-year-old child Sunday. According to Capt. Frank Kirby with the sheriff's office, a call was received shortly after 4 p.m. that a child was trapped in a car - when officers arrived they discovered the parents giving CPR to the child.

The boy was pronounced dead at Riverside Medical Center.

According to police, the parents discovered the child missing after taking a nap and found him unconscious inside the car.

Kirby said an investigation was underway.
