Baby found dead in hot car
11:54 PM CDT on Friday, August 25, 2006
Carrollton police said a 10-month-old baby died Friday after being left all day
in a hot vehicle.
A caller summoned emergency units to the 4000 block of International Parkway
just before 6 p.m. They found the infant boy was dead.
After a preliminary investigation, police said it appeared that the baby's
father forgot to drop the child off at a day care center in Dallas Friday
morning and drove to his business in Carrollton. He apparently worked all day
before realizing the tragic error.
The temperature climbed above 100 degrees after 1 p.m. Friday and remained in
the triple-digits all afternoon, according to statistics from the National
Weather Service reporting station at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
The names of the child and his father were not released.
Carrollton police said their investigation was continuing and that the Dallas
County Medical Examiner's office would report on details of the child's death.
