The death of a 2-year-old boy, who was found unconscious in his family's car
late last month, has been ruled accidental due to heat exposure, police said
Monday.
Arthur Stewart IV was found on the floorboard of the car outside 1301 Foxcroft,
just south of the Sherwood Forest neighborhood, about 7 p.m. on May 29.
The car windows were rolled up and the doors closed, police said.
Police Lt. Walter Norris said the investigation continues. Once it is complete,
prosecutors will decide whether criminal charges are warranted despite the
ruling the death was an accident.
The child's father told police he thought the boy was playing with other
children. The toddler could have been inside the car for several hours, police
said.
