Autistic child found dead in car, apparently from heat

DUMONT - A 10-year-old child was found dead in a neighbor's parked car Monday after possibly wandering into the vehicle and succumbing to the heat, police said.
The child, who was autistic, was reported missing and later discovered in the car, Police Chief Brian Venezio said.

"Right now, it looks like a tragic accident," Venezio said.

The incident remained under investigation.

Authorities were alerted to the missing child about 3 p.m. Bergen County Police K-9 units were among those dispatched in the search.
