Toddler Dies From Being Left in Vehicle
A toddler is dead after being left in a vehicle. Escambia County Sheriff's
deputies say two-year-old, Garrett William Lang was left in the vehicle last
Saturday for an extended period of time.
The car was parked on Madison Drive in the Mayfair subdivision off Mobile
Highway. When officials were notified of the situation, Lang was taken by
ambulance to Sacred Heart Hospital.
All week, he was in the pediatric intensive care unit, but was taken off life
support late Saturday night.
No one has been charged in the child's death and officers are still
investigating why the child was in the vehicle.
Boy's death investigated after he was found in car
The Escambia County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a 2-year-old
boy whose mother found him locked in a car.
The child died Saturday at Sacred Heart Hospital, a week after he was found in
the car parked outside a home in the 900 block of Madison Drive, Escambia County
Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. Ted Roy said.
Investigators are trying to determine if child neglect charges apply to the
case, and the Department of Children and Families also is investigating. The
Medical Examiner's Office conducted an autopsy Monday, but the results have not
been released.
Roy said the family, who was not identified, was visiting the Madison Drive home
from Santa Rosa County on April 24, and they all fell asleep in the living room.
When they awoke, the child was not in the house. The mother found him inside the
car, its doors locked.
The family took the child to Sacred Heart Hospital.
