California 1998-1999
Rainfall Season in Review

by Jan Null, CCM

The following table shows the rainfall for the just completed rainfall season.  The north to south distribution is typical of what has been seen in previous La Niņa seasons (see La Niņa and California Rainfall), with above normal seasonal totals on the north coast, near normal in the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California interior, and below normal in South Central and Southern California. The exception is Bakersfield was 122% of normal, but this was primarily due to an intense two day storm on January 24th and 25th that accounted for 2.79 inches, or 40% of the entire seasons total.
