A comparison of the last five year's NOAA Climate Prediction Center (CPC) 90-day precipitation and temperature outlooks for the winter period of December-February 2021-2022 with the actual observed conditions. With the caveat that NOAA Outlooks are expressed in the probability of the occurence for the three classes , "above normal", "equal chances" and "below normal". For some context, the Ded-Jan-Feb ENSO Status are included. The 90-day (DJF) outlooks were retrieved from the NOAA News Archives and the corresponding observed temperature and precipitation data were downloaded from PRISM Climate Group. ENSO status was retreived from https://ggweather.com/enso/oni.htm.
CPC does their own Gridded Seasonal Verifications that can be found at: http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/predictions/long_range/tools/briefing/seas_veri.grid.php |
